Due to the pandemic alone, we are not losing our normal rights as wage earners. Contact your union if there is a loss of wages or layoffs!
The coronavirus and the drastic measures it is accomanied by have created a crisis in the economy and in the relationship between labor and capital. Many workers are faced with insecurities and conflicts at work. As FAU Jena, we want to inform our members and sympathizers and promote mutual help and resistance to arbitrary measures. On this page we collect assessments and tips on labor law and union problems. Our research team consults laws, court decisions and the assessments of other unions and lawyers. We also track the daily changes and incorporate them into the overview. So we are gradually expanding this info page.
In this text, FAU Münster gives a brief introduction to some of the principles of labor law that apply to mini-jobbers, but are often ignored in practice by bosses. Of course, we cannot deal with the individual topics in all their many legal details and subtleties. Accordingly, the brochure cannot provide any binding legal information in individual cases and cannot replace comprehensive trade union or legal advice. Important to know: In addition to the laws, collective agreements, works agreements and individual contractual provisions may contain relevant regulations in a specific case. As a rule, however, this must not undermine statutory minimum standards (e.g. vacation entitlement, minimum wage or notice periods for employers). In some areas, however, less favorable regulations are also permitted for workers (e.g. limitation periods, notice periods for employees). However, we cannot go into this in detail.
We have all experienced situations in which we feel unjustly and condescendingly treated, disadvantaged or excluded. If this happens because of our gender or sexual orientation, we speak of sexual discrimination. In the workplace in particular, people are often silent, out of fear of attracting attention or out of shame. Every second woman has already had such experiences at work. FAU Berlin rises against sexism in the workplace with an information flyer.
